Sophie Kim worked for ten years for Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, and Temasek as a consultant and bank investor. At Goldman Sachs, she specialized in mergers and acquisitions.

While working with the consulting firm Bain & Co, Sophie Kim came up with Market Kurly, e-commerce selling convenience products that take customers fresh produce to their homes. In the Market Kurly business model, users can order food before eleven at night and receive it early at their doorstep the next morning, before seven in the morning.

Market Kurly has managed to position itself well in Korea as wholesale food service. The application has become popular among high-income families who don’t have time to go shopping personally.

Hand in hand with Sophie Kim, Market Kurly has managed to capitalize on the fact that more and more Korean families are focusing more on quality than price. Market Kurly sells fresh products such as salmon, beef, chicken, and pork, as well as other foods.
