Jonathan Gray

Jonathan Gray, born in 1980, is a French American serial entrepreneur, founder and CEO of the film and TV production company The Hideaway Entertainment since 2017.

//Early days

Jonathan grew up in Cannes in the South of France. He is the son of Martin Gray, a holocaust survivor and author of the book ‘For Those I Loved’.

//Career

At the age of 16, Jonathan started his career in the entertainment industry while working at the Cannes Film Festival for Disney where his job consisted in helping the studio organize their Film Festival (organizing the launch of movies, the stay of celebrities, …). In parallel to this entertainment experience, Jonathan also started to gain expertise in the real estate sector by working with a property developer in Cannes.

In 2003, Jonathan became an entrepreneur by starting his first venture JG Events, a company specialized in trade shows and luxury private events. He was the managing director until 2019.

A couple of years later, in 2005, Jonathan launched two new ventures: Quintessentially France, the exclusive global concierge service (that he sold in 2009), and a high-end real estate agency in Cannes, which he then merged in 2007 with London-based Beauchamp Estates. After this deal, he became Beauchamp Estates’ co-owner and sole representative in France. Beauchamp Estates now has offices in exclusive locations such as Cannes, Saint-Tropez, London, Mykonos, New York, and Tel Aviv, and has been involved, over the past fifteen years, in many prestigious and record-breaking sales, in France and beyond, including the sale of Villa les Cèdres in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the Château Miraval, and La Belle Époque in Monaco.

In 2008, Jonathan Gray launched the innovation-driven advisory firm First Idea International Ltd., an investment vehicle focused on the principles of the positive economy, a “laboratory of positive ideas”. First Idea is involved in strategic planning for the economic post-oil transformation in the Middle East.

In 2017, Jonathan Gray founded The Hideaway Entertainment, a film and TV production company based in Los Angeles. The Hideaway Entertainment was involved in the production of the big-budget films ‘Mile 22’ (2018), ‘Men in Black: International’ (2019), ‘Bloodshot’ (2020) and ‘Cherry’ (2020). Since 2021, The Hideaway Entertainment has announced a round of new productions focused on real-life, auteur-inspired stories such as ‘Combat Control’ (dir. Sam Hargrave), ‘Freedom Ride’ (dir. Deon Taylor), ‘Otherwise Illegal Activity’, ‘For Those I Loved’, and ‘Escape’ (dir. James Watkins).

Within the frame of his movie production activities, Jonathan Gray launched Intelligent Design Agency (iDeA) in 2018. iDeA is a design agency focused on developing large scale projects. Its purpose is to put together teams of urbanists, environmentalists, futurists, technologists, engineers, designers, and concept artists to create idea-first solutions for its clients.
